The best, its location, secondly the personnel, very good quality in customer care matter.

Some services and goods could be improved as : to set more towels Per Room/Per Person, to use better mataresses in the beds.

this is my 4th time to stay here. room was well-kept although no cleaning was done during my 3-day stay. nice for them to host the olympic opening night party with food & drinks. buffet breakfast was adequate. clean shower stalls.

What I loved the most about 40 Berkeley are the staff especially the ones in the reception desk. They were very friendly and helpful. The rooms, hallway and bathroom are decent although they can use a little uprade or renovation. Overall, it was a pleasant overnight stay.

The staff in the kitchen should be more aware when stocks (food, milk, mugs, glasses) are running out.

Reception staff were excellent. Good location and clean rooms. Would recommend 40 Berkely to others. Will stay again.

Location, friendliness of the staff, excellent breakfasts!

The heating pipes were noisy at night. Also the room could be a little cold. Windows not double glazed so noisy on the traffic side.

It's an hostel but it's expensive. The wi-fi works only in the lobby. The connection is very slow. I spent there 3 nights and the connection didn't work for 24 hours. The staff is not so kind. They had a problem with my credit card and they told me that was my fault and that I had some problems with my bank!!!Ridiculous!!They looked at me like a dishonest person!!!The breakfast is abundant: cereals, waffles, pancakes, bacon, tea, coffee, orange juice, 3 different types of bread and bagel!!u cannot take out anything if u want u have to pay. There are no towels u have to rent them!!The hostel is close to south station (20-25 mins walking), the subway is close (green line and orange line).

The free breakfast, the staff, the free wifi in the lobby, ceiling fan, desk with lamp

Noisy, elevator make a lot of noise and in the middle of the city so a lot of police car and traffic. Bed a little small for a 6 foot tall and not really comfy.

They deffinately had good food for breakfast.

The only thing I didn't like was how late they served breakfast on the weekend.

The location and the breakfast are very good. Some of the staffs are very nice and helpful- thanks to Jason and Mona!

There is no air conditioner in this hostel. Some summer days ( might be occasionally, but it did happen to me) could be very very hot in the room. I couldn't sleep well on the first night. Mona gave me an extra small fan and Jason kindly helped me to have changed for a better room. I really appreciate it!

It is well localized near Downtown and near a subway station. The breakfast is pretty good and the staff is very helpful. Considering this is a hostel, it is very good. It is pretty quite for a hostel.

Price is too high, but I guess this is Boston's fault. For the same value I have stayed in much better hotels in ny, la, Chicago and other big cities. Always remember this is a hostel, so shared bathroom can be a bad experience. The bed is not really comfortable, the internet doesn't always works, but in general I must say this is a good hostel.

The location is good and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Very budget, and the hostel is actually a ymca, though I didn't see mention of this in any of the descriptions for the hostel. A good place to stay if saving money is your only priority. It's not very comfortable, nor the most clean establishment. I would recommend this place only for its location, but would make very clear to those considering a stay at 40 Berkeley that this is purely a budget accommodation, and not a place to stay if the cost per room is not really an issue. While many other hotels in the area are more expensive than the 40 Berkeley, I would look first to stay at those more expensive locations next time I am in Boston.

What I received at 40 Berkeley is what I expected. The staff was great, the location was good, room was spartan but clean and bright. The lobby and the rooms off the lobby I used and were a nice place to spend time.

I got what I expected at 40 Berkeley, so I can't complain about 40 Berkeley.
